Film Premiere of The Turning Point

Friday 18th December, Universal Hall, Findhorn, 8pm

As a film about the importance of local networks and connections, the filmmakers decided to "go local" with the film premiere and hold it at the Universal Hall in Findhorn - the heart of the Findhorn Foundation community. Around 200 people attended the premiere, and the film's producers were delighted by the enthusiastic response of the audience and by the number of people who bought 10 or even 15 copies of the DVD after the film to send to their friends, family and others whom they thought would be interested in the subject matter.

20 months in the making, "The Turning Point: A Return to Community" is a heartfelt film based around the Findhorn eco-village in Scotland. It offers positive and practical solutions to the challenges we face at this time of much-needed transition from industrial growth society to life-sustaining society.

The film's producers, first time documentary filmmakers Lisa Mead and Alex page, both live and work in Findhorn. They felt inspired to make the film when they heard that a conference was to be held in Findhorn in March 2008 entitled "Positive Energy: Creative Community Responses to Peak Oil and Climate Change".

The premiere was followed by a fabulous ceilidh, with the well-loved local ceilidh band, Skirly Beat (Rory, Gerry and Charles) - a perfect way to celebrate the many months of hard work that went into making the film.
